Job Description:

  • Translate both audio and written materials, including research tools, field data, field reports, field observation, policies, contracts, training content, etc. between Dari, Pashto, and English.
  • Ensure translations are clear, accurate, and preserve the original meaning and intent.
  • Proofread and edit translations for grammar, consistency, and readability.
  • Adapt translations where necessary for cultural relevance and audience understanding.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection of all documents handled.
  • Incorporate feedback from the organization on draft translations.

Job Requirements:

  • Fluency in English, Pashto, and Dari
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills in all 3 languages.
  • Familiarity with legal and technical terminology used in humanitarian and development  sectors (as relevant).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments independently.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Skilled in translating from audio files - having language proficiency, active listening, and technical ability to accurately capture and translate/transcribe spoken content across languages.
