Johanniter is working is Afghanistan since October 2002 providing emergency aid, rehabilitation of health facilities, medical care and capacity building for community health workers, students, teachers and professionals of NGOs and government agencies in disaster preparedness and first aid skills. Johanniter’s country office is located in Kabul and has operational coverage in the North, Northeastern and central region with possibility of expansion in the South and Western provinces of Afghanistan.
Job Description:
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to children and families affected by the child protection project, using evidence-based and culturally appropriate approaches.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of beneficiaries' mental health and psychosocial needs, and develop personalized care plans to address their specific concerns.
- Implement therapeutic interventions and techniques to support beneficiaries in coping with trauma, grief, loss, and other psychosocial challenges.
- Facilitate psychoeducation sessions for children and families, promoting awareness and understanding of mental health and psychosocial well-being.
- Collaborate with other project staff and partners to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to service delivery, including referrals to specialized services when needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in accordance with JUH guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision and case conferences to enhance professional development and ensure quality service provision.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts by collecting data, documenting outcomes, and providing feedback on the impact of counselling interventions.
- Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and ethical standards in the field of mental health and psychosocial support, and apply this knowledge to enhance service delivery.
- Adhere to JUH code of conduct, child safeguarding policies, and other relevant guidelines throughout all counselling activities.
Job Requirements:
Education:
A university degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Medicine, or a relavant field.
Experience:
Three years of practical experience.
Language Professions:
Proficiency in Dari or Pashto is required.
