Summary:
The Gender Officer supports the integration of gender equality and inclusion across all education programs. The role ensures that educational initiatives are gender-sensitive and responsive to the needs of girls, boys, and marginalized groups. The Gender Officer works closely with project teams, schools, communities, and stakeholders to promote gender equity, reduce barriers to education, and raise awareness on gender-related issues. This includes capacity building, advocacy, and monitoring the impact of gender interventions within education activities.
Job Description:
- Support the design and implementation of gender-sensitive education activities.
- Conduct gender analysis to inform program planning and decision-making.
- Promote girls’ education and identify barriers such as early marriage, harassment, or lack of facilities.
- Develop training materials and facilitate gender awareness sessions for staff, teachers, and communities.
- Monitor and report on gender indicators and inclusion in education programs.
- Work closely with M&E teams to ensure gender data is collected and analyzed.
- Support safe school environments by promoting gender-responsive policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including MoE, NGOs, and community leaders, to promote gender equity.
- Ensure that the needs of vulnerable groups (e.g., girls with disabilities) are addressed.
- Document lessons learned and success stories on gender in education.

- Best oral and written communication skills in English and local languages
- Bachelor Degree in Social, Economic and Management science, gender studies or other related fields of studies
- 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience
- Be able to visit the project’s targeted districts and villages
- Having full knowledge of cultural and religious sensitivities and values
- Compliance and adherence to all the organizational rules and regulations
- Be morally and disciplinary fit for the job.
- Having good knowledge and skills in computer particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Be able to work under pressure.
