AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

Job Description:

The Social Workers will be based in Nuristan, Paroon and will be directly reported to the Project Manager; the Social workers under the supervision project Manager will engage communities, beneficiaries, and stakeholders and ensure effective mobilization and engagement of local communities effectively in the program.

Responsibilities:

To work according to the plan and instructions of the program.

Ensure effective community mobilization.

Support M&E officer while visiting the field and provide the required information.

Conduct survey in targeted districts and villages.

Assist in establishing safe space centers if required.

Establish working relationships with communities and local government offices in the project target areas.

Coordinate project activities with target communities.

Conduct awareness sessions with the local community.

Coordinate with relevant government departments at the local level to facilitate the administrative processes.

Facilitate meetings of project staff with local government authorities and community people.

Ensure field feedback of beneficiaries.

Work with a cooperative attitude and keep a high standard of working quality.

Generate timely reports on all their relevant activities.

Register cases of violence against women meted out to women and girls visiting the center for legal consultation Documentation of counseling records for each of the visitors in both soft and hard formats.

Provide the visitors with legal consultation and services. Identify, set up, and strengthen legal referral mechanism.

Referral of cases of grave concern to advanced legal consultation centers or courts/attorney general office when and where required and necessary.

Follow up and referral of cases of girls and women experiencing violence Develop and maintain a legal register and collect success stories on cases.

Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for clients.

Represent clients/victims in court or before government agencies – if necessary.

Any other tasks being assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education, psychology, Social Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, law and political science and/ or a related field.

A Minimum of 4 years’ experience in social work and community mobilization in humanitarian projects with I/NGOs.

Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrated interest, enthusiasm, and commitment to working with women and girls, their rights, safety, empowerment, and improving their access to resources and services, with a positive attitude and ability to lead and work well in a team.

Superior communication skills (oral & written) in Dari / Pashto / English.

Willing to travel to project sites as required by the program.

Knowledge of community mobilization.

Decision-making skills that are most appropriate to specific situations and immediately.
