 HealthNet TPO in Afghanistan aims to improve the health status of the people in Afghanistan by supporting the local communities and the Government of Afghanistan in the development of a sustainable health care system.  HealthNet TPO is working in Afghanistan since 1994, implementing integrated health projects managed mainly by national staff and supported technically by expatriate staff from the headquarter office. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. Health Net TPO is currently implementing projects in 22 provinces and the major program it implements are Malaria Control program,SEHATMANDI projects in four provinces, nutrition,  Mental Health and Psychosocial program through a community system strengthening approach.

Job Description:

  • The midwife will set a target for the approved reproductive health (RH) indicators for MCHC, with coordination of the PSS counselor and organization M&E team.
  • Develop weekly and monthly reproductive health (RH) activity plans.
  • Participate in the MCHC weekly and monthly planned and ad hoc meetings.
  • Maintain data entry registers and other information related to the activities conducted on reproductive health (RH) as per organization requirements on already developed tools.
  • Provide awareness sessions about major complications of pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal, institutional delivery and its importance and benefits in maternal and neonatal mortality reduction.
  • Provide awareness about breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, menstrual hygiene family planning methods, its benefits and information related to service availability at nearest health facilities.
  • Use the organization and donor (UNFPA) approved IEC material during awareness raising sessions.
  • Identify women and adolescent girls with reproductive health complications and referral to nearest health facilities.
  • Provide regular awareness sessions about vaccines, its benefits and importance, and referral of women and girls to the nearest health facility for the vaccination.
  • Provide awareness about available services in the MCHC for the women and girls.
  • Refer women and girls with psychosocial distress and postpartum depression to PSS counselor for psychosocial support interventions.
  • Attend the organization and UNFPA planned capacity building trainings.
  • Work closely with other MCHC staff members to build a professional team.
  • Perform any other MCHC -related task assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from recognized midwifery Institute (register diploma with MoPH)
  •   At least 3 years’ full time experience of working in midwifery
  •   Ability to work long hours, often under pressure
  •   Good practical skills
  •   Good communication skills
