Job Description:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific tasks /responsibilities under food diversification/NRM:

  • Responsible for conducting needs assessment, survey, and focus group discussion regarding NRM/Climate change requirements.
  • Support and implement agricultural activities (train lead farmers, small holder farmers, community elders) on new and innovative climate smart agriculture/NRM Practices.
  • Facilitate exchange visits for lead farmers and follow up extension services provided by lead farmers.
  • Establish and train natural resource management committee according to approved standards and aligned with Ministry of agriculture, irrigation, and livestock strategy.
  • Train Led Farmers and Follow Farmers on climate smart agriculture/NRM appropriate technologies for demonstration and replication.
  • Organize and conduct environmental protection and climate change adaptation training for the NRM community’s members.
  • Organize and conduct pasture- and rangelands and forest management training for the NRM community’s members.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns on the impacts of climate change and climate change adaptation and tree planting campaigns to local communities.
  • Provide practical field input in preparation of training manuals and training materials for relevant training of communities.
  • Active participation in the regular meeting with other program and operation staff in case of any technical problem and take immediate action.
  • Ensure integration of climate smart agriculture/NRM activities with other NAC sectoral activities.
  • Keep and complete records of the training program and other supply support to target civil society groups/communities.
  • Assist the M&E unit with collecting data from the field (base line, midline, and final evaluation).
  • To carry out the role and responsibilities in a way that reflects commitment to NAC Safeguarding Policy.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback, inputs, and suggestions/recommendation to supervisors on relevant stakeholders on matters concerning NRM activities.
  • Coordination with DAIL other Governmental Agencies and NGOs to leverage support of NRM activities.
  • Any other tasks assigned by regional program coordinator and head of regional office.

Reporting:

  • Coordinate with line manager for completion of report and confirmation with line department in district and provincial level.
  • Provide reports from trainings, workshops, practical sessions, and assessments conducted in communities.
  • Assist regional program coordinator during the preparation of plans and reports.
  • Submit technical reports and provide technical assistance to the M&E Unit in the preparation of reports.
  • Document lesson learn and success story in coordination with M&E staff.
  • Representing NAC in coordination meetings with government and non-government agencies.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Further duties may be required from the duty holder based on the nature of NAC projects. And this will be assigned based on the direct supervisor.

Work Experience:

  • Four years of experience in climate smart agriculture/NRM activities.
  • More than four years of demonstrated success in climate smart agriculture/NRM training.
  • Excellent experience in coordinating programs at the provincial level.
  • Complete experience with household surveys
  • Good experience setting up group discussions to gather information.
  • Excellent understanding of local cultural and religious context
