Job Description:
Key Areas of Accountability:
Responsible for agronomic activity implementation in the field and supporting the technical team members to carry a high-quality of activities in implementation.
Directly reports Project Coordinator, and collaborates with community mobilization assistants and MEAL officer to design an effective community mobilization strategy, project implementation and monitoring plans.
Responsible for compilation of information on project implementation, quality elements of agriculture activities and reporting to the project coordinator on a regular basis
Ensure improved coordination by working closely with project extension officer, IPM officer, social mobilizer, MEAL officer and Nutrition trainer to ensure project activities are implemented smoothly. .
Ensure alignment of project activities to project design.
Responsible for monitoring the impact of the project, promoting learning, supporting decision-making, and documentation of best practices.
Build the capacity of staff to ensure quality implementation.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in community-based walk-through survey to gather contextual information to help develop project implementation plan.
• Train farmers in new agriculture technology agronomic practices, horticulture techniques and methods to enhance productivity in the area.
• Support farmers through field visits and training using the (FFS) Farmer Field School methodology.
• Lead the development of agricultural technical standard training manuals including production and IPM practices in collaboration with IPM and extension officers to be used in FFS.
• Support in establishment of Farmers Field Schools (FFSs) and supervise the operation of FFS activities.
• Establish demonstration Plot and conduct participatory trials and research and demonstrate comparative results of improved agro-based production methodologies with selected FFS members.
• Support team and participate the BNF’s assessment and finalizing the BNF’s list for Agriculture support.
• Documenting the FSL activities and keep the record physically and in soft form.
• Conduct y necessary training for the project technical staff involved in the project for implementation of project activities.
• Contribute in development of the guidelines for operational strategies and implementation of demonstration plots and FFS with FSL TA and FSL specialists.
• Contribute in development of beneficiary selection criteria for laser land levelling and agronomic activities beneficiaries.
• Organize necessary field visits to the project sites where demonstration plots and FFS have been established to assess the progress of demo/FFS plots and ensure necessary technical support to the Farmers.
• Provide recommendations to farmers on improving soil fertility irrigated agronomic measures such as raised-bed furrow irrigation fertilizers application rates and methods and water-saving for increasing crop production.
• Updating the IPTT and project master database regularly.
• Close coordination with sectorial department and project stakeholders to build and maintain professional working relationship.
• Ensure on time project procurement, documentation and support the supply chain team.
• Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning
Ensure the Quality benchmarks of agronomic activities are of high quality and reflective of the technical requirement of the sector in collaboration with FSL specialist.
Ensure information on quality of agriculture activities are captured well.

Ensure the agronomic activities and the technical strategy are coordinated with DAIL

Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Agriculture Extension
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
At least 5 years of work experience in a technical capacity in the field of agronomy and extension Experience in agricultural field level extension activities in wheat, Maize and vegetable sectors
Experience in developing agriculture and agronomic community-based training material.
Experience in facilitating agricultural extension methodologies particularly Farmers Field School and demonstration plot.
Experience of a demonstration of participatory research and technology development following Demonstration farms is preferred.
Good spoken and written skill in English Pashto and Dari Languages and possess good skills in report writing
