Job Description:
Reports to: Education Specialist / Education Project Manager
Supervises: Education Officers, Teachers, Trainers, and Social Mobilizers (as assigned)

Purpose of the Role
The Senior Education Officer is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and implementation of education activities. The role provides technical and administrative support to teachers and field staff, ensuring the quality and inclusiveness of learning programs, as well as effective monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Coordination

Lead the implementation of education activities in target areas in line with work plans.

Supervise education staff and ensure that classrooms, training sessions, and learning activities are running effectively.

Coordinate with communities, school management structures, and local education authorities to strengthen support for education initiatives.
Technical Support & Quality Assurance

Support teachers and facilitators in lesson planning, classroom management, and use of inclusive teaching methodologies.

Conduct regular classroom visits to observe lessons and provide feedback for improvement.

Promote child-centered, gender-sensitive, and disability-inclusive practices in all learning activities.
Capacity Building & Mentorship

Organize and facilitate training workshops and refresher courses for teachers and education staff.

Provide coaching and mentoring to field staff to strengthen technical and professional skills.

Support Social Mobilizers in raising community awareness about the value of education.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

Ensure accurate collection of attendance data, progress reports, and learning assessments.

Work closely with the M&E Officer to track progress against indicators.

Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and final reports with field-level updates and success stories.
Community Engagement & Advocacy

Engage with parents, school committees, and community leaders to promote enrollment and retention.

Facilitate meetings and awareness sessions on child rights, education, and protection.

Advocate for the inclusion of marginalized groups, especially girls and children with disabilities.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field.

At least 4–5 years of experience in education project implementation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of national education system, non-formal education, and inclusive practices.

Experience in mentoring teachers, community mobilization, and working with vulnerable groups.

Good communication and report-writing skills.

Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; knowledge of English is an advantage.
