Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Marketing Officer to:

  • Build the marketing and business management capacities of beneficiaries from our Wool Crafting, Dairy Processing, Food Processing, Gem Crafting, and Tailoring centers.
  • Equip artisans and producers with the skills and knowledge to independently manage their businesses, create sustainable market linkages, and achieve long-term economic self-reliance.

Key Working Relationships (horizontal & vertical):

  • Reports to: RFS-Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with: Community Mobilizers, CDC members, and trainers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapt practical training modules on basic business management and marketing, tailored to beneficiaries with varying literacy levels and specific product lines (crafts, food, gems).
  • Provide training on: Costing, pricing, profit calculation, and record-keeping.
  • Identifying target customers, understanding product value, and basic sales techniques.
  • Market Linkage: How to approach shops, negotiate with buyers, and build a customer network.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to producers and artisans to help them apply learned skills to their specific businesses.
  • Guide beneficiaries in developing simple, actionable business plans for their products.
  • Organize exposure visits for beneficiaries to local markets and potential sales outlets.
  • Facilitate initial meetings between producers and buyers, coaching the beneficiaries to lead the interaction.
  • Support beneficiaries in participating in local bazaars or exhibitions, acting as a coach rather than a sales agent.
  • Prepare regular reports on training activities, participant progress, and overall impact on the sustainability of the centers.

Job Requirements:

Selection Criteria:

You will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in delivering training in business skills, entrepreneurship, or marketing.
  • Proven experience in capacity building, preferably with rural communities or artisan groups.
  • Practical understanding of business principles and the local market landscape in Afghanistan.

Skills:

  • Excellent facilitation, training, and mentoring skills are essential.
  • Ability to simplify complex business concepts into easy-to-understand lessons.
  • A passionate belief in community empowerment and sustainable development.
  • Ability to travel frequently and extensively to remote centers in Yamgaan and Wakhan.

Note: This position will be based in Badakhshan with frequent travel to other field offices, where a local candidiate with strong understanding of communities structure and culture of northeastern regions will be preferred.
