About Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS):
The Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS) is a nationally recognized non governmental organization (NGO) committed to strengthening the role of NGOs in Afghanistan’s development. AICS initially focused on enhancing the institutional effectiveness of NGOs through a certification program based on locally defined and internationally recognized standards. It has also provided capacity-building support and promoted transparency and accountability among NGOs. Furthermore, AICS is actively engaged in capacity-building initiatives and research activities.
Over time, AICS has expanded its scope to include direct implementation and support of education sector programs, particularly in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Community-Based Education (CBE), and Accelerated Learning Programs (ALP). Additionally, AICS conducts capacity-building programs for NGOs and implements research projects in the education sector to support the development of evidence-based strategies, strengthen education systems, and contribute to more effective and informed decision-making by stakeholders at all levels.
Today, AICS continues to serve as a key platform for strengthening NGO capacity, supporting inclusive and quality education services, and generating knowledge to inform policies and practices across the development sector.
- To support and implement effective education programs across ECD, CBE, and ALP, aimed at improving access to and the quality of learning for Afghan children and youth.
- To generate practical, evidence-based research that contributes to improved education policies, planning, and service delivery in Afghanistan.
- To build the institutional capacity of NGOs through tailored training, technical assistance, and performance-based support.
- To promote transparency, accountability, and quality standards among NGOs operating in Afghanistan through the application of certification systems and good governance practices.
- To facilitate coordination and constructive engagement between NGOs, government entities, and development partners for effective and aligned service delivery.
AICS is implementing (Empower Afghan Futures: Building Capacity for Progress) project to enhance the capabilities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This initiative involves delivering capacity-building services through eLearning platforms, online courses, mentorship, online discussions, small grants, and peer to peer learning sessions in the local language Pashto or Dari. The project covers 8 NGOs/ CSOs in Kabul and Balkh provinces.
Job Description:
The Capacity Building Trainer will facilitate training workshops for the women focused NGO Founders/Leaders, key technical staff, and team members in the following areas of Organizational Development such as 1) Project Management (Effective Project Implementation), 2) Procurement Management, 3) Communication & Donor Engagement.
- Work closely with the AICS program team for planning, designing, scheduling, and delivering the training programs.
- Conduct pre and post-tests to identify and measure changes in the capacity of NGOs staff.
- Adjust training materials, reference materials, and handouts based on the broad content for the participants.
- Prepare and submit relevant reports as required.
- Analyze manuals and handouts, reference materials, identify gaps, and recommend changes or additions.
- Identify and implement effective and purposeful training methods and tools to promote optimum learning.
- Ensure adequate preparations prior to the delivery of training sessions.
- Extend support to develop an integrated training calendar for multiple batches and ensure adherence to training timelines.
- Ensure sharing pre-workshop assignments and pre-reading materials in line with the training schedule.
- Ensure a high level of engagement and participation of leaders, technical staff and other team members of partner NGOs in training, workshops, and other events.
- Visit partner NGOs to understand ground realities to improve delivery and efficacy if required.
- Ensure collaboration within internal functions and teams to exchange knowledge and resources and deliver training effectively.
- Keep abreast of the trends and developments, best practices in the organizational development space for women focused NGOs and integrate in training and workshops.
- Any additional duty or task related to the project work assigned by the reporting line.
Job Requirements:
- Fluently speaking and understanding Dari/ Pashto, and English
- The trainers should be residents of Kabul and Balkh provinces.
- The trainers should have preparation to present a title that they experience in it before for 3 minutes during interview process for hiring committee.
