Job Description:
Job Purpose:
The Mental Health Officer is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supervising all Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities under the BPHS/ project in Nuristan. The position ensures quality service delivery, capacity building of health staff, and integration of MHPSS into primary health care services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and monitor MHPSS activities in all BPHS/ facilities.
- Supervise and mentor psychosocial counselors and facility-based mental health staff.
- Conduct on-the-job training and technical support on mental health case management and counseling.
- Coordinate with PPHD, MoPH, and other stakeholders for effective MHPSS implementation.
- Review mental health data, prepare reports, and ensure accurate HMIS documentation.
- Promote community awareness and reduce stigma around mental health issues.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- MD (Doctor of Medicine) from a recognized university; additional training in mental health or psychosocial counseling preferred.
- Five years of experience in mental health and psychosocial support services, preferably in BPHS/ settings.
- Strong managerial, mentoring, and communication skills; good understanding of MoPH MHPSS guidelines.
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari; working knowledge of English.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Power Point and HMIS tools.
