Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Medical Doctor (MD) Trainer is responsible for conducting three WASH and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training sessions for healthcare staff (including doctors, nurses, midwives, and cleaners) of Dahan Jamal SHC under the DAWAM Project. The trainings aim to improve WASH practices, hygiene behaviors, and healthcare waste management through practical demonstrations and the use of the WHO WASH FIT Tool. Each training session will last six days, including travel, facilitation, and reporting. The MD Trainer ensures that all activities are aligned with national and international WASH and IPC standards, including WHO and MoPH guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Tasks 

1. Training Implementation

· Conduct three MD/WASH training sessions for Dahan Jamal SHC staff based on approved training modules.
· Deliver both theoretical and practical sessions on WASH standards, IPC, vector management, AWD/cholera prevention, and healthcare waste management.
· Ensure that all materials and methodologies follow WHO and MoPH standards.
· Use participatory and interactive methods to engage all categories of healthcare staff.
2. Preparation and Coordination

· Coordinate with the Project Coordinator and Ghor DoPH for training schedules.
· Prepare all training materials, handouts, and visual aids before each session.
· Maintain regular communication with SHC staff for pre- and post-training coordination.
3. Field Travel and Facilitation

· Travel to Dahan Jamal SHC for each training session and return upon completion.
· Conduct two consecutive days of training during each six-day period.
· Use the remaining days for travel and reporting (1 day travel to site, 1 day return, 2 days reporting and preparation).
4. Reporting and Documentation

· Submit a detailed training completion report for each session, including attendance, feedback, and evaluation results.
· Document participant progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
· Ensure photos, attendance lists, and activity summaries are properly archived and shared with the Project Coordinator.
5. Post-Training Support

· Provide on-site coaching to assist staff in applying learned practices.
· Support Dahan Jamal SHC in developing and updating its WASH improvement plan.
· Conduct follow-up communication with SHC staff to monitor the implementation of WASH practices.

 

Job Requirements:

Job Specification

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized university.
  • Proven experience in conducting WASH, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), or public health trainings for healthcare workers.
  • Familiarity with the WHO WASH FIT Tool, IPC guidelines, vector management, and healthcare waste management.
  • Strong understanding of WASH standards and national MoPH policies related to infection prevention, cholera/AWD prevention, and hygiene promotion.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to train diverse groups including clinicians, nurses, midwives, and cleaners.
  • Ability to analyze health facility WASH gaps and develop improvement plans.
  • Good report writing and documentation skills.
  • Able to travel to remote field locations and work under challenging conditions.
  • Language: Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an asset.

Education & Training:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree.
    · Additional certifications in IPC, WASH, or public health are an asset.
    · Experience working with national and international organizations preferred.
    · Willingness to travel and work in challenging field conditions.
  • Experience :

 • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in healthcare, public health, or WASH-related training.
• Proven experience in conducting Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), WASH, or healthcare waste management trainings for medical and support staff.
• Experience in using the WHO WASH FIT Tool and implementing national WASH and IPC standards in healthcare settings.
• Work experience with national or international organizations in health or WASH programs is preferred.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote health facilities under challenging field conditions.

Technical Skills :

• Language: Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an asset.

• Strong facilitation and presentation skills for conducting WASH and IPC trainings.

 Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with healthcare staff at different levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for training material preparation and reporting.
• Ability to develop detailed training reports, participant evaluations, and WASH improvement plans.
• Knowledge of WHO and MoPH guidelines related to WASH, IPC, and healthcare waste management.
• Skilled in applying the WASH FIT Tool and interpreting assessment results.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Commitment to gender sensitivity, Islamic values, and professional ethics.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in remote and resource-limited settings.
