Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Financial Planning and Management

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of financial strategies and long-term plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide business decisions.
  • Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and provide variance analysis.
  • Ensure efficient cash flow management and liquidity for operational needs.

B. Accounting and Reporting

  • Supervise accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or relevant local standards.
  • Coordinate external and internal audits and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.

C. Financial Control and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain internal control systems and financial policies.
  • Ensure adherence to company financial procedures, donor/partner agreements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee tax planning, filing, and compliance with statutory obligations (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax, payroll tax).

D. Risk Management

  • Identify financial risks and propose mitigation measures.
  • Monitor currency, credit, and operational risks affecting business operations.
  • Advise management on financial implications of business decisions, investments, and expansion projects.

E. Resource Mobilization and Investment

  • Support management in identifying and negotiating funding, credit lines, or investment opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investors.
  • Oversee capital budgeting and investment appraisals for new projects.

F. Team Leadership and Capacity Building

  • Supervise, mentor, and train finance and accounting staff.
  • Promote continuous professional development and ethical financial management culture.
  • Lead performance evaluations, recruitment, and succession planning within the department.

  • Approved annual budget and quarterly budget performance reviews.
  • Monthly cash flow and expenditure reports.
  • Audit reports with minimal audit queries.
  • Updated financial policies and internal control framework.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA, or CA) preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting management, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Zohobooks, ERP).
  • Proven experience in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in Mining, Construction, logistics, transport, or project-based organizations is an asset.
