Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Technical Trainer is responsible for conducting one-day, hands-on training sessions for Water Management Committee (WMC) technical staff across targeted districts under the FCDO-DAWAM Project. The purpose of the training is to strengthen the technical capacity of WMC members in plumbing, electrical maintenance, and minor repair works to ensure the sustainability and functionality of WASH systems in healthcare facilities and communities water point. The trainer will deliver practical demonstrations, supervise exercises, and provide guidance on the safe use of tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintenance techniques for water supply systems.
Job Responsibilities:.
Tasks
- Technical Training Delivery
• Conduct one-day, practical training sessions for WMC staff at each of the 24 targeted water points and one healthcare facility.
• Train participants on plumbing repair, electrical maintenance, and welding techniques.
• Deliver both theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations.
• Ensure all training content aligns with project standards and safety procedures. - 2. Practical Demonstrations
• Demonstrate step-by-step procedures for fixing water leaks, repairing pipes, faucets, and valves.
• Conduct practical exercises on electrical troubleshooting, including switches, wiring, and minor electrical repairs.
• Provide demonstrations on the safe and proper use of toolkits and PPE during maintenance work.
• Show iron welding techniques for reconnecting or sealing damaged water pipes at community and facility levels. - 3. Supervision and Support
• Observe trainees’ performance during exercises and provide on-the-spot corrections and guidance.
• Support WMCs in identifying key maintenance challenges and developing local solutions.
• Coordinate with the Project Coordinator to plan training logistics and scheduling across the four districts. - 4. Reporting and Documentation
• Prepare a detailed report for each training session, including attendance records, topics covered, photos, and participant feedback.
• Submit overall training completion report summarizing progress, challenges, and recommendations.
• Share insights and suggestions for future capacity-building activities.
Job Requirements:
Job Specification:
Diploma or certificate in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical engineering from a recognized institution (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 6 years of technical experience in plumbing, electrical maintenance, or water supply systems.
• Proven experience in:
o Conducting hands-on technical trainings.
o Plumbing installation and maintenance for community or healthcare systems.
o Electrical troubleshooting and safety practices.
• Familiarity with water supply and healthcare facility maintenance systems.
• Excellent practical, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and the use of PPE.
• Ability to travel to remote and hard-to-reach areas for training delivery.
• Language: Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an asset.
