Job Description:
PSS Counsellors will provide vital psychosocial support to earthquake-affected individuals, helping them cope with trauma, stress, and grief. The role is essential for restoring emotional well-being and resilience among vulnerable populations, including women, girls, men, and boys, through individual and group counseling sessions.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group psychosocial support sessions to affected individuals.
Identify and refer advanced cases to specialized services.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling.
Participate in regular supervision and training sessions.
Document counseling sessions and case management.
Support community awareness sessions on mental health and coping strategies.
Collaborate with community mobilizers for outreach and sensitization.
Ensure safe and private counseling spaces for beneficiaries.
Monitor and report on the impact of PSS interventions.
Engage with families and community leaders to promote mental health awareness.
Support the referral pathway for advanced psychosocial cases.
Participate in post-distribution monitoring and feedback collection.
Ensure gender-sensitive and age-appropriate counseling approaches.
Contribute to MEAL activities and reporting.
Promote a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in counseling, PSS, or related mental health support roles.
Knowledge and and Skills:
Knowledge of psychosocial support approaches, trauma counseling, and community-based protection.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with diverse communities, including women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
Understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries in counseling practice.
Fluent in Pashto and Dari; English is an asset.
