Afghanistan Research, Development and Health Organization (ARDHO) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-for-profit and independent organization developed in 2019 by a group of community development and research specialists and registered with the Ministry of Economy (registration number: 4727). Job Description:
Job Summary:
The MNH (Maternal and Newborn Health) Clinical Mentor will provide on-the-job technical assistance, mentoring, and supervision to health facility staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality maternal and newborn care services. The role focuses on capacity building, supportive supervision, and ensuring adherence to national standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide regular mentoring visits to assigned BPHS health facilities.
- Support midwives, doctors, and delivery staff in improving MNH service delivery (ANC, PNC, safe delivery, newborn care).
- Conduct bedside coaching and hands-on mentoring based on national clinical guidelines.
- Assess clinical practices, identify gaps, and provide corrective feedback.
- Monitor the use of safe delivery kits, infection prevention materials, and equipment.
- Facilitate clinical case discussions, training sessions, and skill-building workshops.
- Ensure compliance with BPHS and MoPH MNH protocols and standards.
- Support maternal and neonatal death reviews and recommend quality improvement actions.
- Compile and submit mentoring reports regularly to the technical/project team.
- Coordinate with provincial and facility-level staff for follow-up and support.
Job Requirements:
- Female Medical Doctor (MD) or certified Midwife.
- At least 3 years of experience in maternal and newborn health.
- Proven experience in clinical mentoring or capacity building is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of BPHS standards and MoPH MNH protocols.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel to health facilities across Badghis Province.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
