Job Description:

ESA Organization, with support from UNESCO, is implementing a two-month project to conduct 3D scanning of archaeological artifacts and rapid assessment of cultural heritage sites affected by recent earthquakes. The Project Manager will lead implementation and ensure quality and timely delivery.

Job Requirements:

Duties & Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overall project coordination and planning.
  • Liaising with UNESCO, government stakeholders, and museum authorities.
  • Supervising the 3D scanning specialists and ensuring quality control.
  • Monitoring field progress and preparing weekly updates.
  • Ensuring timely procurement of equipment and materials.
  • Reviewing and validating digital files, metadata, and archives.
  • Leading reporting, including the Final Project Report to UNESCO.
  • Managing risks, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with ESA/UNESCO standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in heritage documentation, digital archiving, or cultural projects.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage teams across multiple provinces.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with 3D scanning or digital documentation workflows (an asset).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, diplomacy, and communication.
  • Fluency in English, Pashto and/or Dari.
