OPHA focuses on implementing projects in healthcare, community development, capacity building, and the empowerment of women and youth.
OPHA was established in October 2017, and is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy. The organization is currently delivering essential healthcare services in Laghman & Paktika provinces.
Job Description:
- Actively participate in management and process of hospital activities in coordination with hospital management team.
- Psychiatrist will support the mental health team of hospital in the management and treatment of patients in hospital day to day activities.
- Actively participate in setting up of beds related to mental health ward.
- Strengthen implementation of MOPH and WHO mental health guidelines in the hospital.
- Act as mental health focal point.
- Responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and monitoring mental health OPD and IPD services.
- Reviews of provincial mental health data, provide feedback, and ensure quality of services, assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in the hospital.
- Coordinate the activities with Hospital director and hospital management team and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Monitor and verify mental health data, prepare monthly, quarterly and annually reports.
- Support the project on follow up and feedback as referral center (from other HFs).
- Order or perform a variety of medical and/or psychological tests according to MoPH standards. These tests, combined with conversations about symptoms and medical and family history, allow psychiatrists to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological conditions in Hospital services.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice set by professional organizations.
- Coordinate the activities with other health facilities providers, such as CHS physicians, psychologists, or psychosocial counselors and social workers.
- To understand the verification of the HF performance system and its importance for quality improvement standards.
- Responsible for monitoring and verification of mental health data and indicators.
- Prepare and compile Mental Health data on monthly base and provide the required reports and feedbacks.
- Ensure that appropriate skills and knowledge transfer activities are occurring as planned.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD) who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders/Mental health specialist (psychiatrist)
- Minimum 3 years NGO/INGO experiences, in the mental health.
- Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work.
- Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results.
- Should be a Team player.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good command of English and relevant local language, both written and spoken.
- Ability to organize & priorities workload independently, using initiative when appropriate.
