Job Description:
Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this internship is to support the Finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and facilitating smooth financial operations. The Intern will develop practical skills in accounting, documentation, data entry, and financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will perform the following tasks under supervision:
- Support the collection, scanning, and systematic filing of financial documents.
- Ensure vouchers and supporting documents are complete and compliant with internal and donor requirements.
- Maintain both physical and electronic financial records.
- Enter financial transactions into accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ERP) as assigned.
- Assist in reconciliation of cash, bank statements, and petty cash records.
- Verify the accuracy of data and follow up on missing or unclear information.
- Assist in preparing payment requests, petty cash replenishment forms, and bank payment instructions.
- Support timely processing of staff advances and liquidation documentation.
Help track outstanding advances and follow up with staff.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Competencies
- Recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Eagerness to learn and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
