About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA:

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. AFGA is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and an important partner of UNFPA.

A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.

Job Description:

  • Supervise and monitor the project field activities and operations, assist the Project Manager in supervision of health facilities (FHHs, Static clinics, MHTs, FWCs etc). make sure the quality of services are in due to AFGA and health sector standards.
  • Provides technical, logistical and institutional support to project assistants at provincial level and do monitor their ongoing activities.
  • Closely follow implementation of project activities and indicators listed at project proposal and logical frame work.
  • support on the implementation of the capacity building plans in coordination with the project manager and project assistant(s).
  • Supports the preparation and delivery of process training modules and curricula.
  • Provides work planning, needs assessment, training plan development, conducting and facilitating training sessions.
  • Assess the field staff (midwives, counselors) skills, performance, and productivity, to identify areas of improvement.
  • Effectively communicate with management, and work with program teams to address learning issues, problem solutions, or new educational needs regarding specific employees or departments.
  • To be in close contact with field teams, support them towards institutions and stakeholders
  • Closely follow the commodities supply of FHHs, FWC and COMs, make sure the medicine are used properly no shortage and neither expiration of medicine is reported
  • Closely follow monthly clearance of the field teams with finance department 
  • Collect monthly reports from relevant project assistants, and analyze and compile them.
  • Work on preparing monthly reports of the whole project and its narrative.
  • In coordination with project manager attend project related meetings and webinars, present the project and AFGA.  
  • Any other jobs as requested by line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • MD degree from a recognized university
  • Over 5 years’ work experience with INGOs / NNGOs
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience on project management field with NNGOs/INGOs
  • Should have working experience both in hospital and NGOs
  • Excellent communication skill and ability to solve problems
  • Very good team working knowledge and capacity
  • Ability to work at complex context and large size projects / activities
  • Able to communicate very well in Pashto and Dari
  • Good professional grasp of written and spoken English language
  • Able to use computer software such as MS Word, Excel and the internet
