AFRANE (Amitié Franco-Afghane), founded in 1980, is a non-profit that supported Afghan communities. From 2003 to 2021, we focused exclusively on education, working to improve teaching quality and learning conditions through school construction and rehabilitation, equipping libraries and laboratories, training teachers, developing teaching tools, and providing administrative guidance. We were active in 48 governmental schools across Kabul, Parwan, Nangarhar, and Bamyan, reaching more than 95,000 students in 15 districts. Program to Support Public Orphanages – Charikar

 

In June 2025, AFRANE launched a new support program for public orphanages in the city of Charikar. As part of this program, extracurricular courses are offered to the girls of the girls’ orphanage in the following subjects: Dari, English, computer science, and tailoring.

 

The first phase of this program will end in December 2025. A phase 2 is scheduled for next year, upon receipt of the necessary authorizations.

Job Requirements:

The Pedagogical Officer in charge of the supervision and coordination of AFRANE’s pedagogical program within the girls’ orphanage of Charikar works under the direct supervision of the Head of Mission. She acts in accordance with AFRANE’s rules and regulations and is based at the Charikar Public Girls’ Orphanage in Parwan Province.

The two main objectives of the pedagogical project manager are:

Evaluate teachers’ pedagogical practices implemented since the start of the project

Define the pedagogical framework for Phase 2 of the project, which is scheduled to begin next year.

This is a part-time position.

Occasional travel outside of the duty station may be required during the contract period, particularly to Kabul and other locations within Parwan Province.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

Strengthening our relations with the girls’ orphanage’s authorities

  • Create and maintain constructive, collaborative relationships with the authorities of the girls’ orphanage.
  • Ensure regular communication and coordination to align project activities with the orphanage’s priorities.
  • Meet regularly with the school’s administrative team to ensure coordination and alignment.

 

In collaboration with the pedagogical advisor based in France, conduct an evaluation of the courses taught since the beginning of the year.

  • Gather the requested documents (course outlines, examples of student workbooks, student assessments, etc.)
  • Analyze student workbooks and assessments
  • Conduct interviews with the teachers
  • Assess the level of a few students
  • Prepare a report for each teacher detailing the work completed, the methods used, the difficulties encountered, and the successes.

 

Pedagogical project design – Phase 2

  • In collaboration with the direction of the orphanage, assess the pedagogical expectations for the second phase of the program.
  • Design and propose a new pedagogical program for the upcoming year, including specific pedagogical activities.
  • Conduct an initial assessment of students’ levels in cooperation with the orphanage’s management.
  • Based on the assessment, propose a general curricula for next year
  •  Propose a plan for the integration of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) activities into the program
  • Contribute to the preparation of the budget for Phase 2.

 

Administrative and logistic follow-up of the project

  • Monitor and follow up on teachers’ needs for stationery and teaching materials, ensuring requests align with the allocated budget.
  • Coordinate with the logistician for the preparation, delivery, and distribution of materials required by teachers.
  • Ensure timely availability of resources to support teaching activities.
  • Prepare attendance sheets for teachers.
  • Conduct close follow-up on teachers’ attendance to ensure regularity and accountability.

 

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit a bi-weekly report on project follow-up and progress.
  • Report any issues or challenges directly to the Head of Mission.

 

Others

  • Propose ideas and initiatives to support the evolution and improvement of the project.
  • Ensure strict compliance with AFRANE’s rules and regulations.
  • Respect and adhere to the rules of the girls’ orphanage.
  • Inform the Head of Mission of any issues encountered at work or during travel between home and office.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Mission or Project Advisor.
