Job Description:
Position Description:
The Community Worker for Disaster Preparedness will be responsible for delivering and implementing project activities that enhance community resilience and preparedness for disasters in the respective project locations. The ideal candidates should have knowledge and experience of community mobilization and community-based disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness with excellent coordination, mobilization and facilitation skills to effectively engage diverse audiences in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary focal point of contact for target communities, building strong, respectful relationships to foster cooperation and ownership.
- Work directly with community members to identify local needs, vulnerabilities, and capacities related to disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and response.
- Support the development of community-level disaster contingency plans, incorporating the setup of community-based early warning systems, evacuation centers, and household-level preparedness and mitigation measures.
- Proactively coordinate with local authorities at the provincial, district, and village levels to ensure alignment, gain support, and facilitate smooth project planning and implementation.
- Implementation of transparent beneficiary and project selection criteria in line with established project guidelines and participatory process.
- Conduct regular community meetings, focus group discussions, and awareness sessions to mobilize participation in project activities.
- Work closely with Field Trainers and other field colleagues to ensure training programs are well-attended, contextualized, and lead to practical action.
- Regular visits to monitor activities, collect relevant data, and provide on-the-ground support to communities and volunteers.
- Regular reporting and monitoring of the overall implementation of project activities.
- Supervise, guide, and motivate local volunteers to effectively carry out their program-related duties and responsibilities.
- Plan, design, and conduct community-level orientations and training sessions on CBDRR for community members, local volunteers, and CBOs.
- Support the Field Trainer in organizing and facilitating larger capacity-building events, ensuring high community turnout and engagement.
- Maintain systematic documentation of all field activities, including meeting minutes, attendance sheets, and photos.
- Prepare and submit timely monthly activity reports and oral updates to the Field Officer as required.
- Strictly follow the organization security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel both at main office and field level.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Field Officer, relevant to the achievement of project objectives.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, social sciences, education or related field, while female candidates may hold a bachelor’s degree in any field.
Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in community mobilization and community engagement.

Languages: Oral and written fluency in (English, Dari, Pashto)
