Job Description:

Position Description:

The Field Trainer for Disaster Preparedness will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs that enhance community resilience and preparedness for disasters in project locations. The ideal candidates should have knowledge and experience in community-based disaster risk reduction and preparedness with the excellent training facilitation skills to effectively engage diverse community audiences and possess.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops for community members local leaders, teachers, and students on disaster risk reduction, preparedness, early warning and emergency response.
  • Utilize participatory methods including simulations and mock drill, role-playing, group discussions to ensure effective learning and community ownership.
  • Facilitate the development of community disaster management and contingency plan through vulnerability risk and capacity assessment.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Trainer, adapt and contextualize standard training materials (manuals, guides, visual aids) to suit local languages, cultures, and specific hazards.
  • Proactively coordinate with local authorities at the provincial, district, and village levels to ensure alignment, gain support, and facilitate smooth project planning and implementation.
  • Support the Senior Trainer in testing and providing feedback on new training modules and resources.
  • Actively participate in community meetings and forums to raise awareness about disaster preparedness and the importance of preparedness by building strong and respectful relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other field staff to identify training participants and ensure inclusive representation from all community segments.
  • Conduct pre- and post-training assessments of the participants including collecting data on participant attendance, engagement, and feedback.
  • Submit regular activity reports to the Field Officer and Senior Trainer, highlighting progress, challenges, and community feedback.
  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Trainer for technical guidance and the Field Officer for daily operational and security support.
  • Strictly adhere to the organization's security policies, procedures, and instructions from safety personnel.
    • Any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Education: Male candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Civil Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field, while female candidates may hold a bachelor’s degree in any field.

Experience: At least three years of relevant experience in training management and community facilitation work is required. Work experience in DP/DRR projects will be preferred.

Other qualifications’ an advantage:  

Strong teamwork and facilitation abilities, with proven capacity to plan, organize, and deliver training and project activities effectively at the field level.

Skilled in report writing, effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution, ensuring smooth coordination with communities, partners, and stakeholders.

Demonstrates strong organizational and supervisory skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, monitor training progress, and ensure timely implementation of field activities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective coordination with training participants and team members.

Languages: Oral and written fluency in (English, Dari, Pashto)
