PURPOSE

Contributes to the implementation of the Physical Rehabilitation Project activities in accordance with agreed objectives and related strategies, particularly in relation to improved quality and capacity of prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) and wheelchair service provision. As a member of the physical rehabilitation multidisciplinary team, s/he contributes to the implementation of internal and international P&O standards, overall service provision standards, and monitors the quality of the services provided (from registration of the service user to discharge).

• Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers.
• Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
• May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promote best practices in collaboration with the PRP team and assist the Physical Rehabilitation Centre and Project Managers in implementing relevant physical rehabilitation guidelines and standards.
• Work closely and coordinate with all members of the rehabilitation team to ensure a multidisciplinary approach.
• Support the integration of newly graduated students and assist with all clinical and technical activities.
• Provide support to technical and clinical staff in conducting systematic quality control procedures.
• Actively contribute to all technical and clinical work, excluding spinal jackets, and assist in delivering Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) and wheelchair services within the supported Physical Rehabilitation Centre.
• Participate in discussions, communication, and reporting on the physical rehabilitation context, needs, and programs at both internal and external levels.

• Internally interacts with Ortho-Prosthetists and other relevant Physical Rehabilitation colleagues.

Certifications / Education required

• Diploma in orthopaedic technology.
• Additional relevant degrees (e.g., pedorthist) are an asset.
• Fluent local language plus English and/or French

Professional Experience required

• Minimum 2 years working experience as an ortho-prosthetist with a wide scope of practice.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team is an asset.
