Job Description:

 Shelter For Life International (SFL) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to assess and improve the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within the organization. The Internal Auditor will ensure that SFL’s operations, programs, and financial activities adhere to internal policies, donor requirements, and legal standards. This position will be key in safeguarding the organization’s assets and supporting its mission to provide sustainable development and humanitarian relief.

Job Requirements:

1. Internal Control Evaluation:

• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of SFL’s internal controls over financial reporting, operational processes, and compliance with donor agreements.

• Identify gaps in controls and propose actionable improvements.

2. Audit Execution:

• Conduct audits across SFL’s departments and field offices, including financial, operational, and program audits.

• Test the effectiveness of internal control systems through observations, interviews, and analysis of records.

• Perform audits related to compliance with donor regulations and SFL’s policies and procedures.

3. Report Preparation:

• Draft detailed audit reports outlining key findings, risks, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.

• Present audit findings to the senior leadership team and follow up on the implementation of recommendations.

4. Compliance Monitoring:

• Ensure that SFL’s programs comply with international, national, and donor regulations.

• Perform follow-up audits to monitor the progress of corrective actions and improvements.

5. Risk Management:

• Identify organizational risks in the context of SFL’s operations, including risks associated with program delivery, donor compliance, and financial management.

• Identify the financial risk of the organization and offer recommendations to reduce risk

• Recommend risk mitigation strategies and monitor the implementation of risk management plans.

6. Collaboration:

• Work closely with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.

• Collaborate with program managers and other staff to ensure a comprehensive audit process and seamless communication.

7. Data Analysis:

• Leverage data analytics to enhance the audit process, identify trends, and detect potential fraud or non-compliance.

• Assist in creating dashboards and tools to continuously monitor key risk areas.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in related positions (Auditor).
  • Minimum 6 years’ general experience working with, INGOs.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and commercial awareness.
  • Fluent knowledge of spoken and written English and Dari, with Pashto an advantage.
