Action Against Hunger/Action Contre La Faim (AAH/ACF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was created in France in1979. AAH/ACF has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.AAH/ACF improved access to health and nutrition services for the most vulnerable people, who live in remote areas without a localhealth system. In particular, the country team supported pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five, who are atgreater risk of malnutrition. Nutrition programs rely on an integrated approach, addressing both primary and underlying causes, inorder to have a lasting impact on nutritional status. The country team worked at community level, in villages and at provincial level,strengthening the public health system. It also worked at national level to ensure reliable information about the nutritional situation reached the wider humanitarian community. Covid-19 prevention was integrated into all interventions and additional responseactivities were implemented, such as the disinfection of health facilities and public places, cash assistance, psychosocial support andthe distribution of hygiene kits to affected populations.

Job Purpose

Responsible for preparing meals and keeping the kitchen clean. Ensure the cleaning of the kitchen and dishes. Manage food consumption and food menu.

Objective  1: Food and Tea Distribution to Patients Caretakers

Activities:

• Distribute food and tea to the admitted TFU patients’ caretakers as per the daily schedule.
• Ensure all eligible caretakers receive their portion in an organized, respectful, and timely manner.
• Maintain clear records of distributions and report any shortages or issues to the supervisor.

Objective 2: Prepare the meals for the house team

Activities:

• Prepare meals according to nutritional guidelines set by medical staff.
• Ensure food is balanced, safe, and appropriate for patients, caretakers, and staff.
• Adapt recipes to meet dietary restrictions (low salt, high protein, soft foods, etc.).

Objective 3: Keep the premises and equipment clean

Activities:

• Do the washing-up;
• Wash the equipment and the kitchen daily after use
• Dust the surfaces, furniture, and equipment;
• Empty the wastepaper baskets and incinerate their contents;
• Sweep and wash the floor;
• Clean and disinfect the water filters and fill them up.
• Other assignment managed by the direct supervisor

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES REQUIRED FOR THE JOB

Education (if relevant) and experiences expected

• At least high school graduate
• Able to read and write in one of the Afghanistan National Languages
• At least one year experience as cook position

Languages

• Fluent in local languages Dari and Pashto (fluency in Pashto language will be strong asset)
