About Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Women Education Organization (ARWEO):

ARWEO is a nonprofit organization with a visionary focus on the rehabilitation and protection of vulnerable communities in Afghanistan. ARWEO has a strategic goal of assisting the lifesaving and immediate needs of the marginalized population including IDPs, refugees, and host communities in eastern, central, northern and central highlands regions. Job Description:

 Summary:

The Project Manager will serve as the driving force behind the successful planning, execution, and completion of the project. The primary objective is to ensure that the project achieves its goals efficiently, effectively, and within the allocated time and budget. This role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational oversight, and hands-on problem-solving. Specifically, the Project Manager will.
 

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Strategy

  • Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and identify dependencies across tasks, teams, and external partners.
  • Define success criteria and measurable KPIs to track progress and evaluate outcomes.

Execution & Monitoring

  • Oversee day-to-day project operations to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Use project management tools to track progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular project review meetings to assess performance, quality, and resource utilization.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Motivate and guide team members, setting clear expectations and supporting professional growth.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and ensure smooth hand-offs between departments.
  • Encourage a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all expenses are monitored and justified.
  • Optimize allocation of human, technical, and financial resources to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Proactively identify resource gaps and work with stakeholders to address them.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare clear and concise progress reports for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and next steps.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, meeting minutes, risk logs, and lessons learned for future reference.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of Experience in Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred within 10 years of Experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing projects in different sectors, with demonstrable success delivering complex initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) and tools (MS Project, Asana, Jira, etc.).
  • Ability to anticipate risks, make data-driven decisions, and maintain focus under pressure.

Skills and Competencies
