Job Description:
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Implementation
- Support Health and Nutrition project coordinator on the day-to-day implementation of IMHNTs/SHFs and project activities.
- Collect and analyse weekly, monthly reports from provincial team and provide constructive feedback for further improvement of program delivery.
- Undertake 50% field visits from the project sites and meet with beneficiaries’ communities and leaders, to ensure project effectiveness and community involvement in decision making on IMHNT/SHFs services.
- Support the training need assessment with the provincial program team, prepare the administration for trainings outlined on TNA for the MHNTs/SHFs staff
- Follow all procurement and recruitment for the project with relevant department at FO to ensure timely procurement and recruitment of project staff at Wardak province.
- Attend relevant procurement committee meeting at FO office and represent H&N department as a technical person in the committee.
- Provide joint supportive supervision to project sites and undertake regular joint monitoring of the project activities with the Health Specialist and PDQ staff
- Work closely with supply chain team to ensure all project related items procured and dispatched on timely manner to the targeted provinces
- Periodically check the data entry on nutrition online database with field team to ensure quality and consistency of reports.
- Compile and generate the training reports conducted in Wardak province.
- Work closely with the Save the children program teams, including other sectors, to develop applicable materials on child rights, child protection, participation, health education, environmental protection etc.
- Guide MHT teams on the development plans, information required for set-up, timelines, and expectations of the data management system.
- Assess data quality and provide feedback to MHNTs/SHF and Program Implementation teams; based on this make recommendations of what should be collected in DHIS2 and update data collection tools.
- Ensure data is visually accessible for use in evidence-based decision making, including descriptive analysis and geographic data.
- Enhance ability of project and program staff in HMIS related tasks by conducting on-the-job orientation and through other means e.g. one-to-one coaching/mentoring sessions with end users, including face-to-face and remote sessions.
- The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible to develop recording and reporting tools for the MHNTs services delivery and will ensure the MHNTs staff are using the updated HMIS tools in a proper way
- Promote the information system internally and ensure DHIS2 software is always updated and functional and used properly at the field office
- The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible to attend relevant HMIS subcommittee meeting at provincial level and represent SCI in all HMIS related meeting and floors and adapt the health and nutrition services delivery base on revised HMIS policy.
- Regularly provide indicator specific update for all health and nutrition project using the HMIS database.
- Assist the Country Office team on target setting for health and nutrition indicators for the MHNTs during program designing.
- Record, compile, analyze and interpret health & nutrition data and information.
- Coordinate HMIS activities with DoPH and other relevant stakeholders and partners to avoid duplication of efforts and inconsistencies in service delivery.
- Perform any other task relevant to the scope of work as assigned by the line manager

- Ensure that all beneficiaries of your program are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
- Report any Child Safeguard and/or PSEA cases if encountered.

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution, approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential
- Graduated from recognized medical faculty with two years of experience in health and nutrition project management.
- Medical Diploma (MD) with previous experience of working in the Health and Nutrition projects and HMIS sector at least for 2 years
- Familiarity with HMIS/Nutrition online databases of MoPH will be an asset
- Good knowledge and experience of Project Management skill including basic administration and management.
- Good knowledge and experience of Health and nutrition training delivery.
- A thorough understanding of project cycle management, especially M&E processes, and reporting -
