Job Description:
AWEC is looking for a Consultant System Development and Digital Communications to engage with both IT and Media departments to strengthen AWEC’s digital systems, internal data management, and external communication platforms. The consultant will be granted access to AWEC’s existing digital systems, website, MIS, and media platforms in order to assess current practices, implement upgrades, and provide technical improvements.
In addition to system development, the consultant will support the IT and Media Departments by introducing advanced tools, best practices, and practical recommendations to improve efficiency, security, content quality, and long-term sustainability for the next 3 months.
Responsibilities:
1. Website Development and Upgrade
The consultant will be responsible for the comprehensive upgrade and optimization of AWEC’s official website, including but not limited to:
Review and optimize the existing website source code to improve structure, maintainability, and performance.
Redesign and enhance the website interface to improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience (UI/UX).
Ensure the website is fully responsive and compatible across different devices, screen sizes, and web browsers.
Update, organize, and manage website content in close coordination with relevant departments.
Strengthen website security measures, including protection against vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
Improve website performance, loading speed, and stability.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, bugs, and system errors.
Ensure the website architecture allows for easy future updates and scalability.
2. MIS Development, Upgrade, and Management
The consultant will support the development and enhancement of AWEC’s Management Information System (MIS) to ensure it effectively supports organizational operations and reporting needs:
Review and assess the existing MIS and related workflows.
Develop, customize, and upgrade the MIS in line with AWEC’s operational, programmatic, and reporting requirements.
Enhance system functionality to support data collection, monitoring, reporting, analysis, and management.
Ensure system usability and user-friendliness for staff across departments.
Implement measures to ensure data accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and system security.
Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for MIS-related issues.
Improve system documentation and develop or update comprehensive user manuals.
Support capacity building of relevant staff through guidance, demonstrations, or training sessions to ensure effective system use and sustainability.
3. Media and Content Development
The consultant will strengthen AWEC’s digital presence and communication outputs through high-quality media and content development:
Develop an up-to-date and coherent approach for graphics and media content for AWEC’s website and social media platforms.
Design and produce professional-quality visual materials, including graphics, infographics, banners, and digital publications.
Produce and edit high-quality video and audio content for awareness, advocacy, and programmatic communication.
Support the development of media content aligned with AWEC’s campaigns, messaging, and organizational priorities.
Ensure consistency in branding, visual identity, and messaging across all media outputs.
Support AWEC’s communication and visibility efforts by providing technical input and creative support.
4. Deliverables
A fully upgraded, functional, secure, and responsive AWEC website.
An updated and fully operational AWEC MIS aligned with organizational workflows and reporting needs.
Media and communication products, including graphics, videos, audio materials, and an overall content approach or strategy.
Complete and well-documented source codes for the website and MIS.
System documentation and user manuals to support sustainability and internal capacity.
A final consultancy report summarizing activities undertaken, outputs delivered, challenges encountered, lessons learned, and recommendations for future improvements.
Any other task assigned the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
A Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Media Studies, or a related field.
A Minimum of 5 years’ experience in website and MIS development, media and multimedia content development prefferably in I/NGO or development context.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Strong expertise in software development, web development, and system architecture.
Proven hands-on experience with the following technologies and tools: Laravel, Livewire, React JS, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript and jQuery, PHP and Python.
Demonstrated experience in database management, system integration, and MIS development.
Ability to design secure, scalable, and user-friendly digital systems.
Proficiency in professional media and design software, including: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D.
Demonstrated experience in multimedia content production, including graphic design, video editing, and audio production.
Strong understanding of visual storytelling, branding, and digital communication.
