Job Description:
Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all units under Middle Office:
- Treasury Middle Office
- Bank-wide Internal Control Unit
- Reconciliation Unit
- Define departmental objectives aligned with bank strategy and risk appetite.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standard operating practices for
- Ensure all units operate with independence and objectivity.
- Act as the escalation point for critical breaches, discrepancies, or fraud suspicions.
- Represent Middle office in ALCO (based on need), EAC, Management, and Board Committees.
- Supervise, mentor, and build capacity of Middle Office staff.
Treasury Middle Office Oversight
- Ensure monitoring of treasury transactions (FX, MM, bonds, investments).
- Review and validate daily P&L, mark-to-market, liquidity positions, and exposure limits.
- Ensure treasury operations comply with approved limits and risk policies.
- Report breaches to CEO/Dy-CEO and ALCO.
- Coordinate with Treasury Back Office for confirmation and settlement validations.
Internal Control Oversight
- Ensure daily review of branch and departmental transactions.
- Monitor compliance with policies including:
- Salary freeze and advance salary
- EOD and reconciliation procedures
- Operations manual
- AML/CFT (as per bank policy)
- Conduct periodic branch and department control assessments.
- Identify negligent staff and recommend disciplinary action to EAC.
- Maintain evidence and audit trail of all control actions.
Daily Transaction Monitoring & Reconciliation
- Oversee daily reconciliation of all suspense, nostro, inter-branch, clearing, ATM, and card accounts.
- Ensure timely resolution of all breaks, pending items, and high-risk exceptions.
- Review daily exception reports and follow-up actions.
- Escalate significant or unresolved discrepancies to CEO/Dy-CEO/EAC.
Reporting
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, monthly and need base dashboards to:
- Dy-CEO/ CEO
- EAC
- ALCO
- Ensure management has a clear view of operational, treasury, and control risks.
- Highlight trends, recurring issues, and areas requiring policy update.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure department adheres to Basel Committee recommendations, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies.
- Facilitate internal and external audits by providing reports, evidence, and explanation of processes.
- Implement corrective actions based on audit findings and monitor their completion.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, or related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications CFA, CIA or CIPA preferred.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of banking experience, with at least 2 years in treasury, middle office, risk, or internal control.
- Experience in supervising large teams and coordinating across departments.
- Exposure to regulatory compliance, reconciliation, banking operations, and operational risk management.
- Advanced proficiency in MS office package
