Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Surveyor/Agriculturist will play a key role in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agricultural and livelihood support activities under the project. The position focuses on improving agricultural productivity, food security, and income generation for targeted beneficiaries, with particular attention to women-focused agricultural interventions. The Agriculturist will provide technical guidance, facilitate farmer groups, support beneficiary selection, and ensure effective implementation of recommended agricultural practices.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct baseline surveys, beneficiary identification, and verification for agricultural and livelihood interventions.
  •  Support the distribution of agricultural inputs, including food and livestock packages, seed packages (soybean, mung bean, vegetables), plant saplings, beekeeping kits, mushroom cultivation kits, solar dryers, and zero-energy storage facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance on crop production, soil management, vegetable cultivation, mushroom production, beekeeping, and post-harvest handling.
  • Support women-focused agricultural activities, including vegetable production, processing kits, tools, and value addition initiatives.
  • Facilitate and deliver technical training sessions for targeted beneficiaries and farm groups.
  • Monitor field-level implementation of agricultural activities and ensure adherence to recommended practices.
  • Support the establishment of Multi-Hazard Early Warning Committees and provide related technical orientation.
  • Prepare and submit regular field reports, progress updates, and activity documentation as required by the project.
  • Coordinate closely with project staff, community leaders, and local stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
  • Ensure compliance with project guidelines, donor requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Training the farmers in new agricultural technology and agronomy techniques and methods to improve productivity in the area. The training includes land preparation, irrigation-related training, seed cultivation training, training on the application of chemical and organic (manure) fertilizers, and integrated pest management.
  • Design training manuals, presentations, and Materials required for the training.
  • Collecting data on the training and its impact on the targeted area.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks related to training.
  • Support farmers through field visits and trainings.
  • Provide recommendations to farmers on improving soil fertility, irrigated agronomic measures, such as raised-bed furrow irrigation fertilizers application rates and methods, and water saving for increasing crop production.
  • Any other duties assigned by the project manager

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2-3 years of working in international/national NGOs in a similar position
  3. Practical experience in farm field schools, seed distribution, crop production, and community-based agricultural interventions.
  4. Experience working with women beneficiaries and gender-sensitive programming is an asset.
  5. Extensive knowledge and experience in wheat cultivation & vegetable cultivation techniques, including organic and sustainable practices.
  6.  Strong facilitation, communication, and reporting skills.
  7.  Ability to work in rural and field-based environments.
  8.  Proficiency in local languages; basic English reporting skills preferred
  9. Previous experience in conducting training sessions and capacity-building activities related to agriculture.
  10. Familiarity with local climatic conditions, gardening challenges, and suitable vegetable varieties for the target location.
  11. Availability to travel to the training locations
