Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Data Analyst Consultant will provide technical expertise in data management, analysis, visualization, and reporting to support evidence-based decision-making, program quality, and donor reporting. The role focuses on transforming raw program data into meaningful insights aligned with project objectives and accountability standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Management
- Review, clean, validate, and manage quantitative and qualitative datasets.
- Develop and maintain data collection templates, databases, and data dictionaries.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Apply data protection, confidentiality, and ethical data-handling standards.
- Data Analysis
- Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis aligned with project indicators and log frames.
- Analyze trends, patterns, and performance against targets.
- Support baseline, midline, endline, and assessment data analysis.
- Integrate gender, age, and vulnerability-disaggregated analysis.
- Data Visualization & Dashboards
- Develop dashboards, charts, tables, and visual reports using appropriate tools.
- Present complex data in clear, user-friendly formats for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support real-time data tracking and performance monitoring.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare analytical reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and donor use.
- Contribute data analysis inputs to donor narrative reports, proposals, and evaluations.
- Document methodologies, assumptions, limitations, and data sources.
- Provide regular analytical updates to the reporting line.
- Technical Support & Capacity Building
- Provide technical guidance to MEAL and program teams on data collection and analysis.
- Train staff and partners on data tools, basic analysis, and interpretation.
- Support improvement of data systems and workflows.
- Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with MEAL, program, and IT teams.
- Coordinate with field teams to address data gaps and inconsistencies.
- Participate in coordination meetings and data review sessions.
- Adherence to Policies
- Comply with the all policies, including safeguarding, PSEA, and so on
- Other Duties
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field or related field
Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in a similar role.
Skills
- Proficient computer skills - Microsoft Office software, email, the internet.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical or data tool (SPSS, Stata)
- Experience with mobile data collection tools (Kobo, ODK)
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and proceed with objectives without close supervision
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
