Job Description:
The Livelihood and Business Development Trainer will support the economic empowerment of project beneficiaries by delivering integrated livelihood, business development, sales, and marketing interventions. The role combines technical business advisory, training, coaching, and field-based support to strengthen Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with a particular focus on women-led businesses and female returnees.
The Trainer will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure beneficiaries gain practical skills, improved market access, and sustainable income opportunities. The position will also support grant-related processes, market linkage initiatives, exposure visits, and business networking activities to promote long-term business growth.
Responsibilities:
Identify eligible and skillful female returnees for the income generation program.
Equip beneficiaries with essential livelihood, business development, sales, and marketing skills.
Identify and support viable business opportunities for SMEs and MSMEs.
Strengthen beneficiaries’ capacity in financial planning, documentation, and business management.
Facilitate access to markets, partnerships, and networking opportunities.
Support grant selection, due diligence, and monitoring processes.
Enhance beneficiaries’ literacy and numeracy capacities, where required.
Contribute to sustainable income generation and business growth aligned with project objectives.
Training and Capacity Building.
Develop and deliver practical training on livelihood development, entrepreneurship, sales, marketing, and financial literacy.
Conduct literacy and numeracy courses tailored to beneficiaries’ varying capacities.
Coach and mentor beneficiaries in developing business, marketing, and financial plans.
Guide beneficiaries in brand development and assigning them to appropriate business groups based on skills and capacity.
Business Development and Market Linkages.
Identify new business opportunities and potential clients for SMEs and MSMEs.
Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends and market dynamics.
Build and strengthen customer relationships, partnerships, and market linkages.
Organize exposure visits, networking events, exhibitions, and coordination meetings between established MSMEs and emerging businesses.
Grant and Enterprise Support.
Assist Grantees in meeting due diligence requirements and preparing qualified grant applications.
Provide advisory support on maintaining financial, administrative, and business documentation.
Conduct regular field visits to microbusinesses and SMEs to monitor progress against agreed milestones.
Support on-the-job learning placements and internship opportunities with women-led businesses.
Coordination and Reporting
Identify vulnerable women and girls for potential cash-based initiatives or internship programs.
Provide regular reporting inputs to the Project Manager on beneficiary progress, achievements, and success stories.
Perform any other duties assigned in line with project objectives.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
A Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, marketing, finance, education, economics, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in livelihood development, business training, marketing, or SME support.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proven experience in livelihood programming, business development, sales, and marketing, particularly with SMEs and MSMEs.
Demonstrated experience in training, facilitation, coaching, and mentoring.
Experience working with vulnerable women and girls and applying gender-responsive approaches.
Strong understanding of case management principles, protection standards, and referral pathways.
Good communication and active listening skills; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated respect for confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism.
Fluency in Pashto and Dari; English is an asset.
Ability to work independently, manage complex cases, and handle sensitive situations.
