Job Description:
The Nutrition Counselor is responsible for providing Screening (anthropometric measurement) of children under 5 years of age and PLW regularly to identify cases of malnutrition.
Main responsibilities:

Screening of the PLW for malnutrition

Complete growth monitoring and promotion for children under 2.

Refer the complicated case of SAM to the advanced health facilities in Nanagarhar province
-
Provide nutrition counselling to pregnant and lactating women on MIYCN.

Carry out the screening of children under five and pregnant and lactating women by using anthropometric measurements.

Document the screened children, pregnant, and lactating women

To identify SAM and MAM cases through screening of children under 5
-
To refer the SAM and MAM cases to a medical doctor/nutrition nurse for further treatment through nutrition supplements (RUTF and RUSF)

Impart health education to women on maternal nutrition by using the IEC materials

Conduct food demonstrations during health education sessions at the community and health facility level.

To register the SAM and MAM cases in the standard register of MoPH/PND
-
To follow up on the treatment of SAM and MAM cases for finding of defaulter cases.
Knowledge and Competencies:

to demonstrate a good knowledge in identification of SAM and MAM cases
-
Have experience and competency in transferring nutrition education to pregnant and lactating women during the health education sessions.

To understand the nutrition-related documents and HMIS tools

To be fluent in local languages, including Dari and Pashto
-
To have strong communication skills
Job Requirements:
Education :
Graduated from a nursing or midwifery institute or 12th grade graduate with the nutrition counselling standard training from the Public Nutrition Department of MoPH or other entities.
Experience / Skills :
Minimum 2 years of experience as a nutrition counsellor in BPHS health facilities.
Languages:
Be able to communicate in local language.
