Job Description:

Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working  in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check  will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Wash and construction Assistant will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of wash and construction activities.This role involves field work, community engagement, data collection, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of wash and construction projects under supervision of WASH Officer.

Role Dimensions: Assist WASH Officer and Construction Engineer, conduct technical surveys, estimation,design and monitoring from all Wash and consrtuction activities, reports the progress to line managers.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

  • Support the planning and implementation of WASH and construction activities under the supervision of the WASH Officer.
  • Apply technical knowledge of small-scale solar water systems, water wells, reservoirs, water ponds, and related construction works.
  • Assist with site selection, feasibility studies, preliminary designs, work plans, and infrastructure implementation.
  • Conduct field surveys, cost estimates, and technical designs for WASH and construction activities.
  • Support community mobilization and capacity-building and coordinate closely with local communities and beneficiaries.
  • Supervise skilled and unskilled labor, providing technical guidance to ensure proper engineering standards.
  • Provide administrative support to WASH/Construction department.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including monitoring data and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports, case studies, and photo documentation of field activities as per the requirement of program.
  • Coordinate with, supply chain, finance, HR departments, community mobilizers, construction engineers, and beneficiaries, and report implementation issues promptly.
  • Develop and submit monthly work plans and progress reports with technical, social, and impact information.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and make sure of proper documentation for any WASH activities

Job Requirements:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Graduate degree in construction or civil engineering/any relevant field.
  • At last two years’ experience (if post graduate degree one years’ experience) of engineering infrastructure include wash and construction activities.
  • Experience of working with international NGOs will be given priority
  • Experience of work with community based institution and familiarity with the duty location/SRP

Desirable

  • Clear understanding of office procedures and administrative operations

  • Good interpersonal relationship with people from different origins
  • Good spoken and written Pashto, Dari and English.
  • Basic knowledge’s and skills on computer (Microsoft office, Designing softwares, KOBO).

  • Fair Enough in report writing.
  • Ability to travel to the districts
  • Cooperative and helpful attitude, and willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
