MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA) is a branch of MSI, a global, non-profit, and non-governmental organization headquartered in London, UK, and was established in August 2002 after registration with the Government of Afghanistan. MSIA follows the local mission statement of MSI: Improve Afghan women’s health and well-being so that they can, in turn, build strong, healthy families. We focus on reducing maternal mortality by providing quality and sustainable maternal-child health (MCH) and reproductive health (RH) services and information in 18 provinces of Afghanistan, namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Kapisa, Farah, Ghor, Bamiyan and Paktia in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan.
MSIA strives to enhance women's health outcomes in the aforementioned provinces by delivering vital reproductive and maternal-child health services through multiple channels such as centers, outreaches, the private sector, and MS Ladies (Family Health Houses).
Job Description:
PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance & Training Officer is part of a team working under the leadership of the Clinical Lead and reporting to the Deputy Clinical Lead. This role reports to the Senior Quality and Training Officer and together they work with managers and team members across Afghanistan and in close association with the Operations teams to provide Quality Assurance and Training for all the clinical and health work undertaken in MSI’s name in Afghanistan. Their work is key to maintaining standards and trust in MSIA’s work nationally.
Key Objectives for this role: Across their area of coverage there is at least one model site across all channels and more than 95% of providers are level one in each service they provide. Clinical and product related incidents have been reported from their designated sites across all channel and action plans developed for various purposes are followed and evidence of completion is in place.
QUALITY ASSESSMENT AND IMPROVEMENT MANAGEMENT/PLANNING
Provide accurate assessment against MSI standard checklist and
coordinate and deliver quality improvement initiatives, according
to the agreed team plan,. Specifically
· Assist in developing solutions to quality issues.
· Coordinate and deliver training needs with relevant personnel.
· Coordinate MAT meetings and develop action plans based on
minutes for clinic implementation.
· Provide advice and guidance on documentation, interpreting
QA procedures, and MSIA regulations
QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPPORT
The QAO is key to the tracking and response to clinical incidents,
through the following specific sets of actions
· Maintain the incident management database by inputting
information and generating reports on response actions taken
· Track and report incidents based on MSIA standards and
emergent themes
· Establish annual/monthly quality targets with clinics
· Conduct annual internal audit of sites and improve clinical governance and service provisions as per MSI standards. · Ensure the availability of quality medical supplies and equipment at clinics
TRAINING & CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
Provide excellent training where participants gain knowledge skills
and attitude that reduces clinical risks. This work includes:
· Plan and deliver effective clinical training in accordance with
MSIA standards.
· Assist in cascading training from MSI headquarters to
provincial and stakeholder levels.
· Mentor other staff on quality development approaches and
practices.
· Provide updates on new/changed regulations and standards to
clinical staff.
· Support the delivery of training by contracted staff in
public/private sites
Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of data management systems Knowledge of effective training methodologies to impact change
Medical doctor with experience in SRH field / Obs and gynaecologist is preferred
SKILLS/PROVEN EXPERIENCE
Proven Clinical experience Well developed training skills for a range of learners Excellent written and oral communications for training, presentations and reporting
Reproductive Health Services experience
