About Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR):
The Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR) is a national, non-governmental, and non-profit organization founded in 1994, register no. 157, to deliver humanitarian assistance and support Afghanistan’s long-term recovery. Over the last three decades, YAAR has grown into a capable and community-focused organization with experience working in more than 17 provinces and implemented multisectoral projects in partnership with UN agencies, INGOs, embassies, and local institutions.
Job Description:
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services in accordance with national guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Afghanistan and donor requirements. The position ensures compliance with quality assurance standards, biosafety procedures, inventory management, and staff supervision.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision of laboratory technicians.
- Supervise daily laboratory activities and ensure timely and accurate test results.
- Ensure compliance with MoPH laboratory standards and protocols.
- Oversee testing procedures including hematology, biochemistry, serology, microbiology, TB, malaria, HIV, and other relevant tests.
- Ensure proper sample collection, labeling, storage, and disposal.
- Maintain quality control (internal & external quality assurance – EQA).
- Implement and monitor laboratory quality management systems.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance records of laboratory equipment.
- Prepare laboratory reports for MoPH, donors, and organization management.
- Supervise laboratory technicians and assistants.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Conduct performance evaluations of lab staff.
- Ensure duty roster management and staff discipline.
- Monitor stock levels of reagents and laboratory supplies.
- Prepare timely requests for procurement.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for reagents and kits.
- Prevent stock-outs and wastage.
- Maintain laboratory registers and electronic databases.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly laboratory reports.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and donor reviews.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Graduated from Medical Laboratory Science.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years (preferably 3-5 years in similar positions).
- Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and HMIS/EDARS tools.
- Ability to travel throughout the country.
- AMC Card is a must and Should be attached with CV.
