About Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR):

The Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR) is a national, non-governmental, and non-profit organization founded in 1994, register no. 157, to deliver humanitarian assistance and support Afghanistan’s long-term recovery. Over the last three decades, YAAR has grown into a capable and community-focused organization with experience working in more than 17 provinces  and implemented multisectoral projects in partnership with UN agencies, INGOs, embassies, and local institutions.

Job Description:

The CHW Trainer is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering training to Community Health Workers (CHWs) in accordance with Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) CBHC strategy and BPHS/EPHS guidelines. The position ensures CHWs are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide quality community-based health services.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and refresher training for CHWs based on national CBHC curriculum.
  • Deliver training on: Maternal and newborn health, Child health and nutrition, Family planning, Immunization (EPI support), Communicable disease prevention (TB, malaria, etc.), Health promotion and community mobilization.
  • Adapt training materials to local context and literacy level.
  • Prepare lesson plans, presentations, and practical exercises.
  • Ensure use of standard MoPH-approved manuals.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to CHWs.
  • Conduct supportive supervision visits to health posts.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct pre- and post-training evaluations.
  • Maintain training attendance records.
  • Prepare training reports and submit to management.
  • Support data collection and reporting related to CBHC activities.
  • Coordinate with CBHC Officer and Health Facility In-Charge.
  • Liaise with PPHD and district health authorities when required.
  • Participate in coordination meetings.

Job Requirements:

  1. At least 3 years of proven experience in the field (CHW training, CBHC supervision, or BPHS community health programs preferred).
  2. Nurse, Midwife degree, or relevant health qualification (bachelor’s in public health or Community Health accepted).
  3. Strong communication skills; fluent in English, Pashto, and Dari with excellent speaking and writing skills; proficient computing skills – word processing, spreadsheet design and presentations.
  4. Valid Afghanistan Medical Council (AMC) registration card/license is mandatory for MD applicants. A copy of the valid AMC card must be attached to the CV/application.
