HHRD Afghanistan (Regional Office of Helping Hand USA) got registered as an international INGO in February 2014 with the number of (402) with the ministry of economy in Afghanistan to serve Afghan destitute families all over Afghanistan, HHRD Afghanistan needs one female speech therapist who will conduct daily Speech therapy and language pathology sessions to the disabled children in Nangarhar physiotherapy Center, the candidate will receive 18000 AFN monthly.

 

 

Job Description:

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assess and record disabled children in the districts and the city who need speech therapy and rehabilitation services.
  • Observe and evaluate patients to determine the nature and extent of their disorders.
  • Define patients’ degree and type of speech, language, voice, hearing, and swallowing impairments by selecting and administering appropriate assessment tools and preparing written or typed diagnostic reports.
  • Help patients establish goals and advise on treatment options.
  • Plan and conduct programs to correct speech disorders.
  • Administer therapy for the rehabilitation of patients with communication problems caused by disabilities or hearing loss.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and medical practitioners.
  • Conduct patient follow-ups and referrals where appropriate.
  • Provide information and guidance to families, teachers, and employers.
  • Counsel patients and their families about available treatment options.
  • Minimize delays in diagnosis and therapeutic intervention by coordinating and prioritizing patient caseloads.
  • Improve patients’ functional communication abilities by planning and implementing appropriate treatments.
  • Modify therapy programs by periodically re-evaluating therapy goals.
  • Minimize communicative impairment by providing counseling to parents of preschool or pre-lingual children at risk and advising on home-based stimulation methods.
  • Educate staff and patients by designing and delivering training and in-service programs for speech pathology interns.
  • Improve service quality by evaluating and redesigning processes and implementing improvements.
  • Update professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Support CWDP with the registration of CWDs and prepare treatment plans for these children at CPRP.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the program manager and director.
  • Regularly review treatment goals and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Prepare a list of required supplies and share it with the supervisor.
  • Ensure the privacy and dignity of patients.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of speech therapy or speech-language pathology degree from a recognized university.
  • At least three years of experience of working with NGOs or with government.
  • Experience with certain disorders and age groups may be required.
  • Sound understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments.
  • Familiarity with database management software.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to conduct research.
  • Good communication skills in English, Dari and Pashto.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in English and Dari typing and speaking
