Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) established in 1990 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under registration number 50 as a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization based in Kabul, Afghanistan. RRAA is a member of ACBAR and AHF/OCHA and delivers humanitarian and development services through four regional offices in the North, Central, East, and West. RRAA operates in the sectors of Rural livelihoods, local Governance, WASH, Humanitarian Emergency Response.

Job Description:

The Veterinary Doctor position is based in the Surobi and Khak-e-Jabar Districts  of Kabul province to take responsibility of a range of livestock management activities with the following main responsibilities:

  • Train livestock owners and producers regarding livestock-related training (Animal husbandry urea treatment silage animal health dairy processing etc..…)
  • Develop a training curriculum regarding livestock management and other livestock-related issues.
  • Making silage and urea treatment for the practical session
  • Monitoring of female loan groups to see the livestock activity running by the group of 30 people.
  • Follow up and guide Paravents in their field of expertise.
  • Collection of animal health reports from Paravent and submit to the project manager.  
  • Monitoring of livestock-related activities in 2 districts Surobi and Khak-e-Jabar.
  • Prepare livestock component progress reports and submit them to the project manager.
  • Develop the monthly action plan (in line with the project action plan)
  • Closely cooperate and coordinate with other project field staff to ensure the best possible project progress.
  • Participate in MAIL sectorial meetings (if required)
  • Participate in project monthly coordination meetings.
  • Develop formats for data gathering and data analysis.
  • Efficient filing of the documents related to training and distribution of inputs.
  • Ensure good working relationships with the project staff community and other stakeholders in the field.
  • Travel to the targeted districts to carry out the assigned tasks. 
  • Responsible for designing livestock activities for implementation at the SHG level and individual beneficiary level, monitoring, and follow–up in the target districts.
  • Facilitate smooth delivery of veterinary services to the project beneficiaries through District Livestock Development Centers and LDFUs.
  • Identify training needs for staff (extensionists, PVs, BVWs, and FFS facilitators) and target communities and organize/conduct such training.
  • Diagnosis, survey, and reporting of disease outbreaks in the target districts and in case of disease outbreak facilitate the provision of supply of medicine and vaccines through District Livestock Development Centers and LDFUs.
  •  Support in the identification of improved breeds for restocking and supply of livestock-related inputs to the FASL beneficiaries.
  • To carry out the role and responsibilities in a way that reflects a commitment to RRAA Safeguarding Policy.
  • Carry out the tasks assigned by the project manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential.
  • Familiarity of working with preliminary Computer programs (Word, Excel)
  • A working knowledge of the English language and fluency in Pashto, Dari, and local languages used in the province.
