Job Description:
The Mining Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of minerals. The role involves coordinating with site teams, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mine Planning & Design
- Develop short-term and long-term mine plans
- Design mine layouts, drilling, and blasting plans
- Optimize extraction methods for maximum productivity
2. Operations Management
- Supervise daily mining activities (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling)
- Ensure production targets are met
- Monitor equipment performance and utilization
3. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce health and safety standards on-site
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections
- Ensure compliance with local mining laws and environmental regulations
4. Cost Control & Efficiency
- Monitor operational costs and suggest improvements
- Optimize use of manpower, equipment, and materials
- Reduce waste and improve productivity
5. Technical Analysis
- Analyze geological data and production reports
- Use mining software for planning and scheduling
- Evaluate mine performance and recommend improvements
6. Team Coordination
- Coordinate with geologists, surveyors, and contractors
- Manage workforce and ensure proper task allocation
- Provide technical guidance to site staff
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports
- Maintain records of operations, safety, and equipment
- Report progress and issues to management
Job Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of mining methods, drilling, and blasting
- Familiarity with mining software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD, MineSched)
- Understanding of safety and environmental standards
