ActionAid started its activities in Afghanistan in 2002 and was registered in Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan as non-governmental international organization “INGO”.

ActionAid-Afghanistan committed itself a long-term work with poor and excluded sections of the society through the Human Rights Based Development Approach, WASH, and livelihood programs in multiple provinces of Afghanistan.

Job Summary:

The community mobilizer under the AICS-funded project plays a key role in maintaining effective engagement with target communities to support smooth project implementation. They facilitate awareness-raising activities, encourage active community participation, and support communication between the project team and beneficiaries. Additionally, they help identify and address potential conflicts, creating a conducive environment for implementation and enabling communities to actively participate in their development process.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Job Responsibilities:

• Community mobilizers have the most important role in all community level facilitation, and their work must be strategic to ensure that the community becomes spaces in which transparent, accountable, inclusive and proper development processes are practiced and institutionalized.
• Mobilize and sensitize communities on AICS funded activities and introduce the project to district and community level.
• Conduct awareness sessions on hygiene practices, sanitation and safe water use.
• Support the promotion of improved agricultural practices, including climate-smart techniques and sustainable farming methods.
•  Creation of beneficiary selection committee under the AICS Project
• Conducting beneficiary selection Process in all targeted districts of the Project.  
• Raise awareness of communities regarding Project activities.
• Organize first contact with the district and village's authorities.
• enhance community awareness, Support and identify the project right holders.
• Ensure people inclusion to the Project especially poor and excluded women and men disables and children.
• Provide related training to the right holders about the PSEA and gender-based initiatives.
• Facilitate interest and self-help groups in communities, with a focus on poor men and women and marginalized and excluded groups
• Facilitate and support the distributions at the community level.
• Monitor field activities and report on progress, challenges, and community feedback.
• Assess training needs of the right holders in mid-stream and adjust refresher training.
• Any other official tasks given by line manager.
• Reports to the Project Coordinator or Project officer depend on the Project structure.
• Conducting a detailed assessment of the communities.

Job Specification

(Indicate the minimum required level of education, experience, and skills necessary to qualify for the position and fulfill the organization’s expectations for job performance)

Education & Training:

·       A bachelor’s degree is social science or a relevant subject

Experience (Number of Years and field of expertise): 

·       1-3 years’ experience in social mobilization, training, and social work with involvement in emergency/livelihood program

Technical Skills (Examples: languages, planning, budgeting, word processing, advance written and verbal communication, presentation etc)

·       Experience in community mobilization.

·       Team player with high level of facilitation skill.

·       Ability to work hard and long, self-driven

·       Hard worker under the high-pressure situation.
