Job Description:

Job Summary:

The APBHO is implementing a Livelihood Support Project aimed at enhancing income-generating opportunities for vulnerable households through livestock development interventions. The project focuses on improving livestock productivity, animal health practices, and sustainable livestock management among targeted beneficiaries.

Duties & Responsibilities 

The Livestock Trainer will design and deliver practical and theoretical training to beneficiaries on improved livestock management practices, aiming to enhance productivity, reduce livestock mortality, and increase household income: The Livestock Trainer will:

  • Conduct training needs assessments for targeted beneficiaries.
  • Develop training materials, manuals, and session plans in local languages.
  • Deliver training sessions on:
    • Livestock management (feeding, housing, breeding)
    • Animal health and disease prevention
    • Vaccination and basic veterinary practices
    • Hygiene and sanitation in livestock handling
    • Fodder production and storage
  • Provide hands-on demonstrations and field-based coaching.
  • Support the selection and proper use of livestock inputs.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and on-the-job mentoring.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress and training reports.
  • Coordinate with project staff and local stakeholders.
  • Any other task assigned by APBHO relevant FP and or Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry and Agriculture
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in livestock training or extension services
  • Proven experience working with NGOs/INGOs or development projects
  • Strong knowledge of local livestock practices and challenges
  • Experience in conducting community-based training

  • Ability to work in rural and field-based environments
  • Cultural sensitivity and gender awareness
  • Report writing and documentation skills
  • Developed training materials/manuals
