Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and Capacity Building:
- Deliver practical and theoretical training to beneficiaries on proper animal nutrition.
- Train beneficiaries on animal husbandry practices, hygiene, and farm management.
- Raise awareness about zoonotic diseases (diseases transmitted between animals and humans).
- Prepare simple and understandable training materials and conduct workshops and training sessions.
- Examination, Diagnosis, and Treatment:
- Conduct regular examinations of animals and diagnose various diseases.
- Prescribe and administer appropriate medications and treatment plans.
- Carry out vaccination programs to prevent infectious diseases.
- Provide immediate response to emergency and acute disease cases.
- Disease Prevention and Control:
- Develop and implement preventive programs (vaccination, deworming, etc.).
- Identify and report infectious animal diseases.
- Collaborate with the project team to prevent the spread of diseases between animals and humans.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Continuously monitor the health status of animals in beneficiaries’ farms.
- Assess farm conditions, including animal health and productivity.
- Provide technical guidance to improve production and reduce losses.
- Monitor the implementation of training and provide corrective recommendations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of each farm (animal numbers, health status, and productivity).
- Record vaccination and treatment details.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Report any unusual cases to the relevant supervisor.
- Compliance with Health and Environmental Standards:
- Ensure adherence to hygiene standards during animal treatment.
- Train beneficiaries on the safe use of veterinary drugs and chemicals.
- Promote environmentally sound farm management practices.
- Other Duties:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly work plans.
- Actively participate in project meetings.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or a related certified field.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in veterinary services.
- Strong technical skills in diagnosing and treating animal diseases.
- Ability to perform vaccinations and basic veterinary procedures.
- Strong communication skills with beneficiaries.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to make timely decisions.
- Familiarity with dairy goat farming and poultry management.
