Job Description:

The MIYCN Master Trainer will design and deliver comprehensive training on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) to healthcare providers and community-based staff. The training will focus on strengthening participants’ capacity to promote, support, and protect optimal nutrition practices for pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBW), infants, and young children (0–23 months), in line with national guidelines and WHO/UNICEF recommendations. The trainer will ensure participants gain practical skills in counselling, assessment, and behavior change communication (BCC) to improve maternal nutrition, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding practices at both facility and community levels.

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The MHPSS Master Trainer will design and deliver comprehensive training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for healthcare providers and community-based staff.  The training will focus on strengthening participants’ capacity to provide basic mental health and psychosocial support counselling, identify and refer individuals with severe mental health conditions, and integrate MHPSS into health and community services in line with global standards such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and MHGAP approaches

Summary of Key Functions

The incumbent of the position is responsible for:

  • Deliver structured, participatory, and competency-based MHPSS training sessions using approved modules and materials.
  • Identification of common mental health conditions (depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related distress)
  • Basic Mental Health and Psychosocial Counselling Skills (ENACT).
  • Mental Health and Psychosocial Counselling Processes.
  • Standardized, evidence-based, and contextualized MHPSS interventions and approaches.
  • Capacity building of participants on psychosocial support and counselling.
  • Facilitate role plays, case studies, and simulations to strengthen communication and helping skills.
  • Strengthening participants’ understanding of community-based MHPSS approaches and cultural sensitivity.
  • Guide participants on integration of MHPSS into health, nutrition, protection, and education services.
  • Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate knowledge and skill acquisition.
  • Ensure adherence to training schedules, methodologies, and quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive technical training reports to the Training Supervisor following each training session.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating training and mentoring staff or community workers.
  • Strong knowledge of international MHPSS guidelines (WHO).
  • Languages Skills:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement. English Language skills are a plus point.
