Job Description:
- Lead WSM project team as part of ACDO’s overall development and Humanitarian response program.
- Design the WSM project technically and according to humanitarian standards.
- Develop a project plan, ensure its smooth implementation, and manage the team’s performance of project tasks and activities that may include, but are not limited to:
- Participate at zonal WASH cluster and other meetings.
- Regularly coordinate project activities with local government line departments.
- Construction or rehabilitation of water networks, Borehole with Solar pump and stand taps and other Watershed management components.
- Creation and training of management structures.
- Carrying out of assessments and post-implementation monitoring.
- Ensure appropriate design, construction and implementation of WASH hardware according to technical standards.
- Manage the WASH team human resources and provide technical support, training and capacity building.
- Reviewing and understanding blueprints, building drawings, and other design documents to ensure compliance with building codes and standards
- Coordinating all aspects of the project from start to finish, managing the budget, and ensuring that all deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with WSM Engineers and Sub-contractors to understand the project details and requirements and project Specifications.
- Monitoring project costs to ensure that they remain within budget parameters.
- Support the WASH Technical Team in the development of project management best practice and ensure all current project process and procedures are aligned with Engineering and Sphere standards.
- Responsible for leading and managing projects from inception to completion with the full understand of all project aspects including design, construction, schedule and budget.
- Manage the evaluation, selection and on boarding of Design and field teams including, Subcontractors, specialist contractors, suppliers and other third-party vendors.
- Working together with the Program Coordinator, manage projects cost control and reporting.
- Attending regular meetings with senior management to discuss project status and issues that may arise
- Reviewing and approving plans for materials, equipment, and labor needed to complete the project
- Develop a strong, working knowledge of, and be held accountable for, the Siting and Construction Services portion of the project’s overall scope, schedule and cost
- Identify potential areas of project risk associated with appropriate stakeholder groups at each project cycle stage (planning, siting, construction and restoration)
- Monitor the performance of personnel on site and provide directions and feedback as and when required.
- Develops and monitors the construction project budgets
- Establishes written project timelines and communicates them to the administrative sponsor of the project and the Program Coordinator.
- Ensure resources are being used to the optimum to provide best results.
- Report any discrepancies to superiors and implement effective and timely solutions.
- Conduct periodic site visits to monitor project activities, assess progress, and identify areas for improvement, traveling to project sites, meeting with project staff and stakeholders, and observing project activities firsthand.
- Determine and define scope of work and deliverables.
- The Project Manager is responsible for Providing the Project Construction Schedule included all the activities.
- Any other related tasks assigned by Senior Management Team (SMT).
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, irrigation engineering, agriculture and, preferably with specialization in Watershed management or similar relevant qualification. from recognized University with minimum of seven (7) years or master degree holder with five (5) year of proven work job related experience.
- have a good working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, Prima Vera, Water Gem and Auto CAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in working with government at national and sub-national levels, UN organizations, or any international development or aid agencies.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for project management.
