Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The Hygiene Promoters will be responsible for delivering hygiene awareness sessions and promoting improved hygiene practices in targeted health facilities and outreach.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hold Personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, food hygiene, and sanitation sessions.
  • Conduct awareness sessions and campaigns on various hygiene topics such as handwashing, sanitation, menstrual hygiene management, and safe water practices.
  • Conduct hygiene promotion training for community hygiene promoters.
  • Record attendance of hygiene promotion sessions, and hygiene/water kit distributions.
  • Assist with the hygiene baseline and end-line survey for each selected area.
  • Conducting AWD/Cholera awareness at the community levels.
  • Identification of beneficiaries for WASH NFIs as per set criteria.
  • Monitoring and supporting in the distribution of hygiene/Water kits in the community.
  • Participating in solid waste clean-up campaigns.
  • Prepare timely reports, documentation, and case studies to showcase the effectiveness of hygiene promotion interventions and share lessons learned.
  • Provide support to the MEALM/E team during the PDM (Post distribution monitoring). 
  • Facilitate WASH-related KAP surveys.
  • Participate in the identification of beneficiaries for the WASH activities (solid waste management, water supply construction/rehabilitation, distribution of hygiene kits, etc.) if requested.
  • Provide awareness raising on feedback and complaints mechanisms and channels available to every beneficiary.
  • Organize meetings with local leaders, and beneficiaries, collect their feedback, and report complaints.
  • Report any challenge and issue to the WASH Assistant.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of 12th grade.

Experience:

  • A Minimum of 1 year of experience in community hygiene activities within UN agencies, government institutions, or international/National Non-governmental organizations.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; proficiency in English is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and cultural sensitivities.

Must be flexible, hardworking, and ready to travel to different hard to reach targeted locations.

Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Listens to others and shows a real commitment to maintaining open communication with the client and team members.

Teamwork: Committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve project tasks for the team. Willing to learn from others and open to giving and receiving feedback.

Flexibility/adaptability: This requires the candidate to have the sufficient capacity to adapt to the IMC work methodology and different work environments (office and field) that the candidate might have later during a mission.

Note: Preference to be given to the residents of the province.

Important Point: You will be asked to travel or be deployed anywhere within the program area to perform services. There may be some insecure areas where you may need to travel and perform the activity without any hesitation in coordination with the security department.
