Job Description:
The Security Trainer plays a critical role in strengthening the operational readiness of GSS’s armed security personnel. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs across multiple project sites, ensuring guards are proficient in weapons handling, tactical operations, emergency response, and compliance with international security standards. The trainer must demonstrate advanced technical expertise, instructional capability, and leadership to maintain the highest level of professionalism and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training & Instruction
· Develop and implement structured training curricula covering:
· Weapons handling, safety, and maintenance (small arms, rifles, shotguns, and specialized weapons).
· Tactical operations including patrols, convoy security, and site defense.
· Emergency response procedures (fire, medical, evacuation, and hostile incidents).
· Rules of engagement, escalation of force, and use-of-force continuum.
· Deliver induction training for new recruits and refresher courses for existing personnel.
· Conduct scenario-based drills and live-fire exercises to simulate real-world threats.
· Provide specialized training for supervisors and team leaders on command and control.
2. Weapons Proficiency & Technical Capability
· Ensure guards achieve and maintain certification in weapons proficiency.
· Train personnel on advanced marksmanship, close-quarter battle (CQB), and tactical shooting.
· Oversee safe storage, issue, and accountability of weapons during training.
· Conduct technical inspections of weapons and equipment used in training sessions.
3. Evaluation & Compliance
· Assess individual and team performance through written tests, practical demonstrations, and field evaluations.
· Maintain detailed training records, attendance logs, and performance reports.
· Submit monthly training reports to the Security Operations Manager with recommendations for improvement.
· Ensure all training programs comply with ICOCA standards, Afghan labour law, and GSS internal policies.
4. Leadership & Professional Conduct
· Promote discipline, integrity, and professionalism among trainees.
· Mentor and coach personnel to build confidence and leadership skills.
· Enforce adherence to GSS Code of Conduct and ethical standards during training.
· Act as a role model for guards, demonstrating high standards of behaviour and operational readiness.
