Job Description:

I-GENERAL Responsibilities:

The overall scope of work for Sonologist is to preform sonography examination in Laghman Provincial Hospital in line with the HER project & EPHS/MoPH standards and procedures.

II-SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Performs all requested Sonographic examinations as ordered by the physicians.
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography.
  • Uses independent judgment during the Sonography Exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyses Sonograms, Synthesizes Sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the Sonographers care.
  • Prepare monthly action plane and daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic area/department.
  • Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the physicians.
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
  • Positions patients, applies medical gels and electrodes, connects and adjusts equipment’s and verifies wave signals, procedures and high-quality imaging.
  • Records examination details by printing data and reporting them as required.
  • Observes all safety policies and protocols for patient protection.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by following established procedures to safeguard confidential information.
  • Active participation in the morning report, Internal seminars & Night duties
  • Provision of monthly HMIS report
  • Using PPE kit while examining COVID-19 patients.
  • Perform other tasks as per his monthly action plan, job description and direction of his/her line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from Recognized Medical University & MoPH certified document of Ultrasound Specialization
  • At least 3 year working experience as Sonologist in MoPH hospitals
  • Fluent in both National languages (Pashto and Dari) & Intermediate knowledge of English language
  • Able to perform night duties
  • Good interpersonal and communication skill & good training skill
  • The ability to manage other people involved in a patient’s care
  • The ability to create tailored treatment plans
  • Mastery of all medical instruments needed for treatment
  • The ability to provide accurate effective care even under pressure

  • Work with honesty and co-operative attitude and keep a high standard of quality.
  • All other interdictions are stipulated in the staff regulation and other OPHA policies along with the disciplinary measures and all these policies are part of the staff contract with OPHA.
