Job Description:
The Medical Expert will provide high-level technical expertise across healthcare, public health, and health systems strengthening initiatives implemented by Adroit Associates. The role is responsible for providing evidence-based technical guidance, conducting health sector assessments, supporting research and evaluations, contributing to proposal development, and ensuring the technical quality of healthcare-related interventions and advisory assignments.
The Medical Expert will support donor-funded, humanitarian, development, public health, and healthcare consultancy projects by providing strategic, clinical, and analytical expertise to improve healthcare systems, service delivery, policy implementation, and health outcomes in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Technical Health Advisory & Sector Expertise
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on healthcare, medical, and public health interventions across assigned projects.
- Conduct technical reviews of health sector programs, healthcare delivery models, and medical systems to assess effectiveness, efficiency, and quality.
- Advise project teams on health systems strengthening, healthcare service delivery, disease prevention, clinical governance, and medical best practices.
- Support development of technical frameworks, methodologies, standards, and tools for healthcare-related projects.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to improve healthcare access, quality, equity, and sustainability.
- Health Sector Assessments, Research & Analysis
- Conduct health systems assessments, facility evaluations, health service reviews, needs assessments, and technical studies.
- Analyze healthcare data, epidemiological information, health indicators, and medical evidence to inform project decisions.
- Review healthcare policies, national health priorities, donor frameworks, and sector strategies relevant to project objectives.
- Contribute to baseline studies, evaluations, feasibility studies, technical assessments, and health-related research assignments.
- Identify gaps, risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities in healthcare systems and recommend practical solutions.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Quality Assurance
- Support the design and review of health-related monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks and indicators.
- Contribute to the development of healthcare quality assurance mechanisms and performance monitoring systems.
- Review project outputs, reports, and technical deliverables to ensure medical accuracy and technical quality.
- Support assessment of healthcare interventions against international standards, donor expectations, and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, patient-centered approaches, and evidence-based programming.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Coordination
- Engage with ministries of health, healthcare institutions, donors, NGOs, development agencies, medical professionals, and implementing partners.
- Participate in technical consultations, coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
- Provide technical presentations, briefings, and expert inputs during project implementation and business development processes.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including MEL specialists, researchers, policy experts, and sector specialists.
- Build productive professional relationships to strengthen technical collaboration and project outcomes.
- Proposal Development & Business Support
- Provide technical inputs for healthcare and public health proposals, expressions of interest (EOIs), concept notes, and technical bids.
- Support project scoping, technical design, methodology development, and staffing for health-related opportunities.
- Contribute to technical narratives, work plans, implementation approaches, and health sector analyses for proposals.
- Review donor requirements and align technical approaches with international best practices and contextual realities.
- Reporting, Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments, analytical briefs, presentations, and medical advisory documents.
- Ensure accurate documentation of findings, recommendations, methodologies, and technical evidence.
- Support production of lessons learned, case studies, and technical knowledge products.
- Maintain organized documentation of healthcare assessments, stakeholder consultations, and technical resources.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Medical Doctor (MD/MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution is required.
- Advanced qualification in Public Health, Health Systems, Epidemiology, Global Health, Healthcare Management, or a related field will be considered an asset.
- Relevant professional certifications in healthcare, public health, humanitarian health, or medical specialization are desirable.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in healthcare, public health, health systems strengthening, humanitarian health, or healthcare consultancy assignments.
- Demonstrated experience working in health sector programs, healthcare service delivery, technical assessments, or donor-funded projects.
- Experience working with governments, international organizations, NGOs, development agencies, or consulting firms is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in fragile, conflict-affected, or developing country settings is preferred.
